Present Simple – Forms – Affirmative
— Present simple – structure:
- I/you/we/they: read, write, see
- He/she/it: we add –s
— Spelling rules:
- If a verb ends in s/ss/sh/ch/x (fricatives) we add –es.
I watch -->
He/she/it watches
- -If a verb ends in a consonant +y, then-y changes to –ie before the ending –s (y>ies).
I fly -->
He/she/it flies
- If a verb ends in a vowel, then –y doesn’t change:
I play -->
He/she/it plays
I buy -->
He/she/it buys
— Watch out for exceptions!
I do -->
He/she/it does
I go-->
He/she/it goes
I have-->
