Lesson 3 of 4
In Progress

It’s (high/about) time – When do we use it?

We often use this structure to criticize or complain. It expresses that something should have been done. We use the past tense to refer to the present, the future, or a general situation.

  • It’s time we went home.
→ (meaning: It would be better if we went home.)
  • It’s high time she learnt how to cook!
→ This makes the criticism stronger.
