In Progress
Future Continuous
How do you form it? will be + -ing*(* present participle)
Statement: I/you/he/she/it/we/they will be working
Question: Will I/you/he/she/it/we/they be working?
Negative: I/you/he/she/it/we/they won’t be working
a) We use the future continuous tense to talk about something that will be in progress at a particular time.
- What will you be doing this time next week?
- I’ll be working in my office at 2 o’clock tomorrow.
b) We use the future continuous tense to talk about something that will happen because an arrangement has already been made. (similar to the present continuous)
- I’ll be driving into the town later on. Do you want a lift?
- Next month, he will be working at his new job.
c) We can use it as a polite way of asking about other people’s plans, especially when we want someone to do something for us, so we can use it as a polite way of asking about arrangements.
- Will you be using your car at the weekend? I wonder if I could borrow it.
- When will you be seeing Sally? Could you give her that textbook?
